What's Happening

Health Fair
Friday, November 15th, students celebrated their 7th annual Health Fair at Bellefontaine Elementary School. Children in grades kindergarten through second participated in hands-on learning stations for the entire school day. 42 volunteers from the community helped to jump start our early learning in areas of physical fitness, health and nutrition and safety awareness. From blending smoothies using power from a bike, to frying a hot dog to learn about the dangers of fallen power lines, students had a memorable and fun day learning about health and safety. A special thanks to our volunteers: Physical Fitness: Boyd Dance Studio, Dance Fuzion, Homegrown Yoga, Mary Rutan Pediatrics Health and Nutrition: Community Health and Wellness Partners of Logan County, Logan County Farmer's Market, Logan County Health District, Logan County OSU Extension Office, Mary Rutan Hospital, Mary Rutan Pediatrics, Swartz Family Eyecare, LLC Safety Awareness: TRC Inc., Bellefontaine Elementary Speech and Counseling, Bellefontaine High School DARE Club, Bellefontaine Fire Department, Bellefontaine Police Department, Gloria's Tumbling, Logan County CoOp, Ohio Fitness and Martial Arts, The Stahler's with Canine Companions for Independence  READ MORE...
Ohio Hi Point students visit BES
Ohio Hi Point students came to BES to share their animals with the kindergarten students. Our kindergartners loved having the chance to pet and hold animals! As scientists, they explored what it takes to keep these animals alive and discovered what they need in their habitats. They thought it was cooler than being at the zoo! It’s not everyday you can snuggle with a chinchilla or hold a snake on your shoulders!   READ MORE...

PAX Good Behavior Game
PAX Good Behavior Game
Bellefontaine Elementary School staff recently used a development day to attend on-site training in the PAX Good Behavior Game. According to the PAX website, the “PAX Good Behavior Game” (PAX GBG) is a scientifically proven classroom based system that teachers use to teach skills for self-regulation, co-regulation and self control during school and after school activities. With the new State and National emphasis on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools, the PAX GBG is a key component in the elementary school’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) system that will provide a universal language for staff and students throughout the school. The training provides teachers with concrete, easy to use strategies that promote peace, working together, and classroom community.  READ MORE...
