In celebration of their unit about the War of 1812, Bellefontaine Elementary School second graders had the opportunity to honor the American flag with several Boy Scouts from Bellefontaine Middle School.

Scouts Isaac Merrin, Jay Tuttle, Isaac Roberts, and Leo Reser-Stanford taught the second graders how to fold, carry, and show respect for the American flag. Second graders learned to always carry the flag closely to their hearts and never let it touch the ground. They were interested to learn about how to respectfully honor an American flag in a flag retirement ceremony.

The second graders shared their knowledge about the flag and the author of The Star-Spangled Banner, Francis Scott Key. This unit surely brought forth new and deeper respect for our country.
