Bellefontaine City Schools swept top honors for the third straight year in the 2024 Logan County Spelling Bee at the Holland Theatre Tuesday night.

Bellefontaine Middle School eighth-grader Sloan Stolly was crowned champion for the second consecutive year.

BMS eighth-grader Caden Yoder repeated as runner-up.

Stolly spelled “rewarding” to advance to the championship word. She then spelled “laundry” to defend the title.

Stolly is the daughter of Josh and Whitney Stolly.

Yoder is the son of Colin and Carrie Yoder.

The annual competition went 30 rounds, including an 18-round spell-off.

The spelling bee featured twelve students from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, and Riverside.

The four Bellefontaine City Schools students were eighth-graders Sloan Stolly and Caden Yoder along with fifth-graders Garrett Gossard and Natalee Kuhns.

The Midwest Regional Educational Service Center hosted the spelling bee.

Erica Baer was the emcee.

Midwest Regional Educational Service Center Superintendent Scott Howell, Indian Lake Schools Gifted Specialist Cammie Honaker, and Riverside Schools Gifted Specialist Andrea Watts served as judges.
